Terabyte B.V., trading as ReMarkt
Last updated: 20 August 2026
In these warranty terms we explain what warranty ReMarkt offers for orders placed via www.remarkt.co.uk or with a delivery address in the United Kingdom, how you can report a fault and how we handle a warranty claim.
Article 1 – Warranty on your product
- All products sold by ReMarkt are checked, tested and cleaned before dispatch. Where necessary, parts are repaired or replaced.
- ReMarkt offers a commercial guarantee of at least 12 months from the day of delivery on every product. The exact warranty period and the product to which it applies are stated on the product page, the order confirmation or the invoice.
- The commercial guarantee applies to consumers and business customers, unless different arrangements have been agreed in writing under a business contract. Statutory consumer rights apply to consumers only.
- The commercial guarantee applies where ReMarkt has delivered the product concerned in the United Kingdom. The warranty is carried out from our premises in the Netherlands.
- The commercial guarantee is intended solely for the original buyer and, in the event of resale, is not transferable to a new owner, even if the original proof of purchase is supplied with the product.
- If you purchased a warranty extension when placing your order, the extended warranty period stated on the order confirmation or invoice applies, up to a maximum of three years.
- The additional conditions of Article 4 apply to batteries.
- For consumers in the United Kingdom, the statutory requirements of UK consumer sales law regarding quality, fitness for purpose and description apply. A legal claim may in principle be brought within up to six years in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and up to five years in Scotland. This is not a fixed guarantee for that entire period.
- If a fault becomes apparent within six months of delivery, it is in principle presumed to have been present at the time of delivery, unless ReMarkt proves otherwise or this presumption is incompatible with the nature of the product or the fault.
- In the event of a valid fault, the consumer may in principle exercise the short-term right to reject the product and request a refund during the first thirty days. After that, the consumer is in principle entitled to a free repair or replacement.
- If a repair or replacement is unsuccessful, is not possible or is not carried out within a reasonable time, the consumer may, under the statutory conditions applicable in the UK, be entitled to a price reduction or the final right to reject the product. The refund and any deduction for use are applied in accordance with the mandatory consumer law that applies in the relevant part of the United Kingdom.
Article 2 – What does the warranty cover?
- The warranty covers technical or hardware faults that arise during the applicable warranty period under normal use.
- Technical or hardware faults may include, among other things:
- a product that no longer starts up or shuts down unexpectedly;
- a fault in the motherboard, memory or storage drive;
- a fault in the supplied power supply, adapter or charger;
- a fault in the keyboard, touchpad or a supplied mouse;
- a fault in the ports, cooling, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera, microphone or speakers;
- a technical fault in the display;
- another hardware failure as a result of which the product does not function as could reasonably be expected.
- This list is not exhaustive. ReMarkt assesses each claim on the basis of the product, the reported problem and the circumstances of use.
- Article 4 applies to batteries. Article 8 applies to software and updates.
- In the case of a valid warranty claim, the necessary investigation, the parts, the repair and the appropriate remedy are free of charge.
Article 3 – What is not covered by the warranty?
- The warranty does not cover damage or faults directly caused by external factors, incorrect use, insufficient maintenance or normal wear and tear consistent with the age, period of use and chosen quality grade of the product.
- This may include, among other things:
- damage caused by dropping, impact, pressure or breakage;
- moisture or liquid damage;
- damage caused by fire, extreme heat, lightning strike or an incorrect power supply;
- use contrary to the instructions for use or the intended use;
- heavy soiling, blocked ventilation openings or insufficient cooling;
- normal and expected wear and tear, insofar as there is no premature fault;
- cosmetic signs of use that fall within the chosen quality grade and were stated before purchase;
- damage caused by unsuitable or incompatible accessories, power supplies or peripherals;
- damage caused by unauthorised modifications, repairs or parts.
Repairs and modifications by third parties
- Do you want to have work or a repair carried out by another company within the warranty period? Always ask ReMarkt for written consent in advance.
- ReMarkt gives no warranty on work or parts by third parties, nor on damage caused or aggravated by such work or parts.
- A repair or modification by a third party does not automatically void every warranty claim for the entire product. ReMarkt assesses whether there is a connection between the work and the reported fault and whether a reliable technical assessment is still possible.
Investigation and repair outside the warranty
- Does the fault turn out not to be covered by the warranty or your statutory rights (legal guarantee of conformity)? Then we will explain the cause and the options available.
- Any investigation, repair and shipping costs will be communicated to you in advance. A paid repair is only carried out after you have approved the quotation.
Article 4 – Batteries
- Batteries are parts subject to wear. Their maximum capacity gradually decreases with normal use and ageing.
- For laptop batteries, the following minimum capacity standards relative to the original design capacity apply at the time of delivery:
- 5 stars: at least 80%;
- 4 stars: at least 70%;
- 3 stars: at least 60%.
- These capacity percentages apply specifically to laptop batteries. No fixed quality grade applies to batteries in other products, unless this is expressly stated for the product.
- During our final inspection, the battery must at least meet the standard of the chosen quality grade. Does the battery not meet this standard? Then the laptop will not be delivered within that grade without the battery first being replaced or another appropriate solution being applied. This may delay delivery. ReMarkt will inform you if this happens.
- A capacity percentage is not the same as a fixed battery life. The actual battery life depends on, among other things, the device, the settings, the brightness, the power management, the programs used and the workload.
- ReMarkt offers a commercial guarantee on the technical functioning of a supplied battery for three months from delivery. This period does not limit the statutory rights of consumers in the United Kingdom.
- We assess a battery when, among other things, it is not recognised, does not charge, shuts down unexpectedly or exhibits another technical fault. Normal gradual loss of capacity is not covered by this commercial battery guarantee.
- A replacement battery does not have to be new, but in the case of a laptop it must at least meet the capacity standard of the chosen quality grade.
- Stop using and charging a battery immediately if it swells, leaks, becomes unusually hot or is otherwise potentially unsafe. In that case, contact our customer service straight away.
Article 5 – Carry-in warranty
- ReMarkt offers a carry-in warranty. This means that the product must be delivered to ReMarkt for technical investigation and further handling.
- First report the fault in accordance with Article 6. After your claim has been assessed, you will receive the correct shipping or drop-off instructions.
- ReMarkt does not carry out repairs on site at the customer's location.
- Dropping off or collecting a product at our premises is only possible after this has been arranged with our customer service. ReMarkt does not have a physical shop or showroom.
- Large or heavy products, or products delivered on a pallet, may not be returned as a normal parcel without prior consultation. Follow the instructions you receive and, where applicable, the pallet policy.
- The costs of a warranty claim are handled in accordance with Article 10.
Article 6 – Making a warranty claim
- Submit a warranty claim via the returns portal of www.remarkt.co.uk.
- Did you place the order from your ReMarkt account? Then open the relevant order in your account and choose the available return or warranty option.
- Did you order as a guest? Then use the order number and the e-mail address with which the order was placed.
- Is the order not recognised automatically? Then contact our customer service and quote your order number. A guest order can be linked to a new account when the same e-mail address is used for both.
- When submitting your claim, state, where available, the order or invoice number, the model, the serial number or service tag, a clear description of the problem, the moment the problem arose, error messages and any checks you have already carried out. Where possible, add photos or a video.
- No longer have the invoice? Then you can also use an order confirmation, bank statement or other reliable evidence to show that and when the product was purchased from ReMarkt.
- After submitting your claim, you will automatically receive a confirmation that it has been received. This is not always the final return instruction. Claims are checked and approved on working days. You will then receive the correct instructions.
- Do not send the product until you have received the shipping or drop-off instructions.
Article 7 – Investigation and repair
- After receipt and registration, ReMarkt investigates the product and the reported fault.
- We aim to complete the investigation and handling within 14 days of receipt and registration. Handling may take longer if additional investigation is required, parts need to be ordered or no suitable replacement product is immediately available. If this happens, we will keep you informed of the progress.
- Depending on the fault and the circumstances, ReMarkt may repair the product, replace a part, offer an equivalent refurbished replacement product or apply another appropriate solution.
- We take into account the remedy you prefer. ReMarkt may offer a different remedy if the requested remedy is impossible, disproportionately costly or cannot be carried out without significant inconvenience.
- A replacement product does not have to be exactly the same model, but must be at least equivalent in terms of functionality, value and quality grade. These principles may only be departed from with your express consent.
- Can the product not be repaired or replaced within a reasonable time and without significant inconvenience? Then we will discuss an appropriate price reduction or, where the statutory conditions are met, termination of the contract and a refund.
- Termination of the contract is not possible if the deviation is so minor that it does not justify termination.
- Parts replaced during a repair become the property of ReMarkt, unless otherwise agreed in writing beforehand.
Article 8 – Software and updates
- An operating system supplied by ReMarkt and drivers, software and licences installed by ReMarkt must function as described at the time of delivery.
- A software problem is covered by the warranty if it is directly caused by a hardware fault or an error in the installation carried out by ReMarkt.
- A software problem is not covered by the warranty if it is directly caused by software installed or removed by the user, malware, incorrect settings, unauthorised changes to Windows, the BIOS or firmware, or unsupported third-party drivers or software. This also applies if the problem arose solely because a necessary update was not installed within a reasonable time, provided you were informed of the availability, the consequences and the installation of that update.
- Installing or modifying software does not automatically void every warranty claim. ReMarkt assesses whether there is a demonstrable connection between the modification and the reported problem.
- For products with digital elements, the statutory rules on necessary functionality and security updates also apply. Known limitations in compatibility, support or future updates are stated before purchase.
- If a software problem was caused by the user and is not covered by the warranty, ReMarkt may offer a paid reinstallation or other support. The costs will be communicated in advance.
- Article 9 applies to personal files, accounts and backups.
Article 9 – Personal data and backups
- Before sending or dropping off the product, make a full backup of all data you want to keep.
- During inspection, repair or replacement, it may be necessary to reset the device, reinstall software or replace a storage drive. As a result, data and installed programs may be deleted.
- Where possible, remove personal files, saved passwords and personal accounts. Sign out of Microsoft, Apple, Google and other accounts and disable activation locks and features such as 'Find My Device'.
- Remove SIM cards, memory cards, USB sticks and other external storage media before delivering the product.
- Never share the password of a personal account. Is access to the device required for the inspection? Then preferably create a temporary local test account.
- Does the device use the standard local ReMarkt account and has no password been set for it? Then leave the password field in the claim blank.
- Are you unable to make a backup, delete data, sign out of accounts or disable an activation lock because of the fault? Then state this clearly in your claim.
- ReMarkt cannot guarantee that data will be preserved during the investigation or repair. ReMarkt is not responsible for retaining or recovering data of which no backup has been made, except where ReMarkt is liable for this by law.
- ReMarkt processes data on the product only insofar as this is necessary for investigating and handling the claim, and does so in accordance with the privacy policy.
Article 10 – Costs under the warranty
- Do not send a product until you have received the shipping or drop-off instructions from ReMarkt.
- In the case of a valid warranty or conformity claim, ReMarkt pays the necessary costs of return transport, the investigation, the parts, the repair or replacement and the return shipment.
- Use the shipping method offered by ReMarkt or the return label provided.
- Do you choose a different or unnecessarily expensive shipping method without prior consultation? Then the reimbursement may be limited to the reasonable costs of the shipping method offered by ReMarkt.
- For large or heavy products, or products delivered on a pallet, transport must be arranged with ReMarkt in advance.
- Does the investigation show that the reported problem is not covered by the warranty or your statutory rights (legal guarantee of conformity)? Then the cost arrangements of Article 3 apply. ReMarkt will not charge any costs without informing you in advance of their nature and amount.
Article 11 – Warranty after repair or replacement
- After a repair, the original commercial guarantee period continues to run. The warranty period does not automatically restart as a result of a repair.
- A part replaced under warranty is covered by the warranty for the remainder of the original warranty period.
- Is the entire product replaced under warranty? Then the remaining commercial guarantee period of the original order applies to the replacement product.
- Have you purchased a warranty extension? Then the part of that extended warranty period that has not yet expired continues to apply.
- Does the same fault recur after a repair or replacement? Then report this to ReMarkt again. The further remedy will be assessed in accordance with Article 7.
- A separate warranty may apply to a paid repair outside the original warranty period. Its duration and conditions are stated in the quotation or on the invoice.
- A repair or replacement does not limit the other rights a consumer has by law.
Article 12 – Reporting, assessment and complaints
- The consumer is requested to report a fault as soon as possible after discovering it. A later report does not automatically lead to the loss of statutory rights as long as the applicable period under the law of the United Kingdom has not expired.
- ReMarkt assesses a consumer claim in accordance with the statutory rules of evidence and remedies that apply in the United Kingdom. ReMarkt's commercial guarantee period does not replace this statutory assessment.
- Has the commercial guarantee period expired? Then a consumer claim will not be rejected solely for that reason. ReMarkt also assesses whether statutory rights still apply.
- You do not have to identify the exact technical cause yourself. Give as clear a description as possible and, where possible, include error messages, photos or a video.
- As the seller, ReMarkt is your point of contact for the assessment and handling. ReMarkt may use a manufacturer, supplier or other specialist for the investigation or repair.
- Do you disagree with our assessment or proposed remedy? Then contact our customer service. You can also use our complaints procedure.
